A closer ear

A closer ear

A Poem by Rudi J.P. Lejaeghere
"

Prayer is an act of love; words are not needed. Even if sickness distracts from thoughts, all that is needed is the will to love. Saint Teresa of Avila

"

The story

of the hands that tells

how the rest of the rest

between tangled fingers

is lost to the white on the bed

the light

in the eyes

already far beyond

that extinguish as a lightening bug

smothered in the morning haze

the whisper of a voice

that reaches not further

than a closer ear

writes word after word

memories into the soul

of those who want to listen.

Een dichter oor

Het verhaal

van de handen vertelt

hoe de rest van de rest

tussen gekromde vingers

zich verliest aan het wit

op het bed

het licht

in de ogen

dat in de verte

als een glimworm

dooft

in de morgenmist

gesmoord is

de fluister

van een stem

die niet verder reikt

dan een dichter oor

schrijft woord voor woord

herinneringen

in de ziel

van wie luisteren wil.

I really enjoy your use of metaphors, wij zoals "een glimworm," when we are extinguished it is through our last whispered words that we live. For it has always been that our very first and our very last words hold the most meaning and show our greatest growth. Though both the baby and the elderly may mutter syllables of sounds, it can touch us far deeper than any intellectually thought out philosophical pandering. It is that innocence, the white and the light of which you speak of, that captures us fully. Thank you for sharing your most wonderful talent and vision of the world!

What strong and powerful words about prayer. Sometimes it feels that they are more for us than for God. The moment of realizing what we need, and coming to terms with our lives.

There is such beauty within the graphic, showering upon the revelation of your words. Your reader walks away with a cathedral of peace to cling to.

A truly touching poem Rudi
I Love it so much

A prayer is the soul being alive
Free to wander and visit others
In solitude and good will

Love it

oooh well that is lovely for so many reasons .... it's a glimpse, yes just a glimpse of which we all experience and yet never really discover fully - unless, as you said, unless we really want to listen .... LOVELY XX

The bit about those who want to listen, yeah, I understand that. You could write entire bibles about that.
