Rare Things

It's a rare thing in this world today

to find beauty in what we behold

Rare, indeed to search and seek,

in the end to know what we know.

It's a rare thing to find color

in a rainbow obscured by clouds

to trudge through this life, confident in yourself,

 never entertaining self doubt.

To look at your life and understand

the path is not always the straightest

but the curves give it thrills and the bumps give us spills

the adventure can be the greatest.

It's a rare thing to look at those

who have so much less than we do

To make a decision to better their lives,

the greatest choice we can choose.

It's a rare thing to find a love

that knocks you off your feet

To stand at life's end, with your lover and friend

Nothing in life is as sweet.

It's a rare thing when you watch the news

not to let the bad press defeat you

to be able to pick up your own attitude

never let anyone decide your own truth.

If you have these rare things

let your heart dance and sing

they are treasures that some never find.

Be glad everyday that you have victory

over body, spirit and mind.
