Now and then

Now and then

A Poem by Sapph

Your scent and body imprinted
In between the sheets.
The warmth dissipated, hungry.
Cold.
Maybe you were here once.
Lusting after a different time, I was.

Your eyes avert painfully, evasive.
My lungs are caving in
From your heady passions
And I wish for more.

Once, I deliberately lost myself
So you could find me again.
You were kind enough to take me in.
And wash fourteen months of impurity and
Misanthropy off my lethargic skin.

There are only so many ways one can express
A pent up love, tense and focused.
Gentle and reckless.
The laws of philosophy saw you coming,
A walking deontos.

How funny, you should walk in now.
When I am poised, ready to leave.
How grateful was I.
Now I feel the pain.
The frustration.
How does one describe such a palette
Of emotion.

How dare you make us so beautiful,
Comparable to a lustful, charismatic romance.
My words once so flexible
Now cannot cover this.

Your commitment and love
Will surely be the end of me.
