Caught in a loop

Caught in a loop

A Poem by Michelle N. H.

My thoughts are cloudy

And obsolete

Over a cup of coffee

Amid foam

Atop sugar

Melted

And stirred within

An ocean

Black and deep

Through a taste thus sweet

And familiar

I wonder in flashes

As if thoughts flicker

Like thunder

Tiny explosions

To no avail

Eager be however

This feeble state

To drink again

I love coffee and tea and that is why you can find me at Starbucks socializing with friends or reading alone to get some down time...This was wonderful...:)............

I feel the same. A nice mug of coffee, tea or hot chocolate and I'm a happy woman. Thank you :)

Wow. Good to know...You are welcome...:)..........................
Coffee is a way of pausing - to catch one's breath or to be caught within anothers' breath.

The scent is calming and yet engaging... as people wander by.
The pleasant burn, the adrenaline high, the final, deep-down hangover. The coffee effect is a remarkably apropos analogue to the surge of inspiration, the writer's marathon, and the lingering exhaustion. Marvelous poem Michelle! :)

You're brilliant. Thanks a lot, Matt :)
like coffee, our feelings stirred within, sometimes with sugar, sometimes black with angst, sometimes lightened by events as in having cream in the coffee..

but that cup is like a heart holding all...and in life we take sips with various tastes...

all part of the breakfast of life.

You are welcome michelle:)
I love this. This may not have been your intentions but it connected with me on my morning ritual of coffee. I need it every single day to clear the flog of my mind. I love this.

Of course, dear. It hit home for me. I actually needed cups of "tiny explosions" this morning. Lol.
