The Winter Beast

The Winter Beast

A Poem by Sheri Haynes
"

A beautiful Nebraska winter morning inspired me to write this poem outside in below zero weather. During the night a fierce winter storm passed through leaving tons of snow and ice everywhere.

"

Bare tree branches look like

skeletal fingers of the winter beast.

Chilly kisses of the twilight air

on my cheeks turning them rose red.

Wind's lonely growl giving voice

                  to the winter beast.

Fragrance of the morning breeze

wakes my soul from it's slumber.

The taste of a snowflake upon my

                 tongue, cold yet wet.

The winter beast lives.

Just beautiful I love winter and the description here is so lovely... Almost as if nature speaks to you, and you can see it in your own personal way. Good job :)
