Conundrum: Chapter 2

Conundrum: Chapter 2

A Chapter by Shivai
"

Chaos

"

Cacophony of screeching, gossiping and laughing people was heard as soon as she was at the doors, she straightened up and went in. “I hate this!” she told herself as she casually headed to the trays to collect her food.

After getting out of the protracted line she went to sit at the table where Jacob Marlin-who was her assigned mentor- and Maya Sean Golain-her roommate- were fighting about which political leader was the worse. Politics wasn’t Jessica’s piece of cake so she stayed out of the heated conversation.

After sometime when both of them were tired of fighting they finally noticed Jessica’s silence.

“Hey, ‘sup, Jess?” Maya asked with a mouthful of sandwich, pointing at Jessica’s hand that was playing with the sandwich wrapper.

“Nothing, I am just too tired, I guess… I should probably go to bed.” Jessica yawned out the words, she felt a wave of fatigue and sleepiness pass over her.

“Yeah, and sleep well, tomorrow sharp at six o’ clock we start our class, DO NOT BE LATE,” Jacob said stressing at the last words, “Goodnight.”

“Whatever, ‘night people” Jessica mumbled as she left.

Maya had already told Jessica that she was going to stay up to watch the football match with the boys so she wouldn’t be back till late. Jessica did not mind, these were the only times she could do something she wanted.

She went to her room and sat on Maya’s laptop and typed “Aliss Woodland”, the first site read:

29 December

Money before Loyalty

Befriending a girl with lower financial status cost James Winson's (Reputed Lawyer of Ottlie)daughter probably her life.

Aliss Woodland(18), accused for the murder of her "best friend" Natasha Winson(19), has gone missing.

Rumours say that as the two friends have quite a difference in their financial standards a ‘spark’ of jealousy might have forced Woodland to murder her childhood friend. They were often found fighting as well. Shailene Winson who witnessed the murder of her daughter says, ‘Nat and Ali were really good friends, I cannot believe Ali would have done this...*sobs*... they were inseparable and now...’

James Winson has announced that he will be filing a case against the Aliss Woodland for the murder of his daughter and he himself shall be the prosecuting attorney.

But there is a new mystery involved… the body of Natasha Winson is gone missing, and there were bloodstains found on the ground. When they examined the bloodstains they found that the stains was a mixture of two bloods- one of Natasha Winson and the other of Aliss Woodland. The Crime Department is working on the case and suspects that Aliss Woodland is also DEAD as they only thing they found of hers were a pair of heels and her blood with Natasha Wilson's found only supports the theory.

They have few more theories on this, such as:

-Aliss Woodland regretted murdering her friend and couldn’t bear the guilt so she jumped too

-Maybe she ran away-which is possible but less likely

-She never murdered Natasha, they might have slipped together...

The list went on and on, other sites said the same thing. Jessica’s vision blurred, she switched off the laptop and went to the bed.

Did anyone really know what happened?

Shivai: I am enjoying the story, as you said, it will become clearer; I'm only a novice at writing, and the only thing I can think to suggest would be a divider, indicating a change of character and setting. Again, the writing is very well, the story is suspenseful, full of mystery and my mind is buzzing wondering where they are at; what happened to them...I love the casual dialougue, well defined characters. Great descriptions, and I truly look forward to more. Thank you so much! Dale
