The Breakup

The Breakup

A Poem by Jordan

I see a hundred faces everyday,

I don't see you.

I talk to a hundred people everyday,

I don't talk to you.

I was heart broken when I heard those words,

How did you say that, when I loved you so much.

I saw you laughing with all your friends,

But you didn't notice me as if I am no one.

How did you want me to react, when you ignored me

like this,

Yes I was angry, but wasn't it fair when you did this?

I wasn't able to sleep for eight nights after what you said,

But when I saw you were all good.

It was like nothing happened in your life,

Only someone was gone.

I saw you smiling with all your friends there,

And everything was alright.

What was it that I wanted more than your attention,

But you were always busy with your friends.

What was it that I wouldn't have done to be with you,

and you treated me girl that I am a no one for you.

Why didn't you try more than once,

It was like you were bribed to do this to a no one.

I remember every time you said this before

I made you understand,

But this time was different as for you it didn't matter.

I will stay away from you now, and never be near you,

I never mattered and now I won't even try to.

All I wanted was your attention, but now I don't want it.

I understood what I deserve and won't ask for more,

I will never be a part of your life, that's for sure.

I have made a decision and will follow it,

And will never see you like I used to before this.

Just remember me as a part of your life which is gone,

Just remember me as another "someone".

You are definitely a very strong writer! You had an amazing voice in the beginning! I got a little lost somewhere in the middle, but you closed it beautifully. I loved your last line. So powerful!

Breakups suck no matter what you do.

What a touching poem! I really felt the emotion. It reminds me of an experience in my life as well. How can people that used to so called care about you and love you act as though you aren't even there if you happened to be in the same room? Not even a glance your way...Great poem! Well done!

Thank you Sarah for those kind words...
I really love the last line. It is so powerful and so sadly true.
I think that this is beautiful poem that shows one of the major faults with people.
I hope that this is something that you did not personally have to through. But if you did your not alone. Almost all of us have been through something like this at one point or another.

I was just watching an interesting film along this line, Jordan. Where you have no problem about meeting and greeting hundreds of other people - and somehow are unable to meet face to face the girl you really love.

As you've written it though, it is very melancholic and sad. And yes, like at the front office today, there is a girl I would like to write to and she gave me her Email three times now. Each time I randomly meet her there she says, sorry, she changed it again.

I finally said, you know what, it doesn't matter. Whether it's deliberate or circumstance we're not meant to be friends if you can't even give me a working Email - 3 times now. She gave me a neutral look and walked away.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. 3 times ? I think there's an issue going on. :)

A very expressive piece of growth. Remember, love but don't ever let anyone else define your worth.
