Every girl is beautiful

Every girl is beautiful

A Poem by Sidewalk

Every kid is popular

on graduation night

like every girl is beautiful

when the club turns on the lights

the food banks overflowing

on every holiday

a beggar pleads for change

and you look the other way

and everybody cares

when disaster shakes the world

it’s the latest fashion

adopting baby girls

callouses covering

the tissue deep inside

I told you forever

but of course I lied

This is a beginning

on a new year’s day

standing resolute

I’ll never change my ways

Yes I struggled with that for a while, but my reason behind this was this. Usually on graduation day, everyone suddenly becomes friends, even people who are rare acquaintances in high school are sad to see everyone go, like the popular kids who just gotta say goodbye with everyone, just "have to stay in touch."
At the end of the night, when the lights come on and the bar's closing, suddenly anyone will do, everyone becomes pretty and worth trying to take home. That was what I was trying to convey.

I like this one a lot. Only thing is I think that in a club every girl becomes beautiful when the lights go out.

This poem packs a wallop. The message delivered is a cold one ... basically that life is not fair ... it's full of hurts.

I enjoyed the read.

I like this poem. I know the feeling. I roam Austin Texas clubs for five years when I was at Fort hood. A outstanding poem. You told a good story.
