Night's Contours

(Tumbling Tercets)

I gaze into the night
lacking insight,
my tired psyche’s

left to wonder
even ponder
what lies beyond

this open darkness,
made more luminous
as a firefly reveals

this night’s lost contour
… or, at least what was lost to me
And still, I’m cautious

as its wings waft
the heady cologne of
evening primrose

and false promises
of peace that should be
found here in this silence

This is a great write.. I can feel the wariness and a sense restlessness tugging inside the individual. This is in contrast to the painted picture of a peaceful night. Well done.
