Kings Of The World

Kings Of The World

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

Some people step on others to get to the top of the world

"

Kings Of The World

Kings of the world look down on us all

They call themselves leaders but due to their actions I'm appalled

Business men, world leaders, think they are gods

Stealing from the poor, building their empires to the sky's

These people are hungry for power, money, fame, and respect

If they don't get it they throw fits

But they don't deserve any of it

They steal the needs for other's survival from under there noses, to fill their expensive wants

Fight other countries when no reason for hostility poses

Leaving countries without water

Bombing each other into oblivion with no regard for human life

Planting seeds of war and hate, knowing what they are doing in spite

They lie to the public every day

Hiding behind their money, fancy words, and ideals, making sure their policy stays

Anything to get their way

They steal our right to think for ourselves as much as they steal our livelihood

Saying that only their way of business or leadership is good

These kings of the world are only big fish because they eat up the resources of others

Because they do whatever they can to stay big

Because they lie, steal and kill

Proscribing pills of bullshit flavoured to taste like justice

It may taste good at first, but when you see through it all, you'll puke

This scandal doesn't sit right in anyone's stomach

They may be king of the hill

Cheating us all for a buck and a thrill

But they get fat off the land of others.

And some days their lies, bad deeds, and mistakes will be their undoing

Still, we might never know what some of them have been brewing

Tell me what you think of this poem if you feel up to it. I'd love to hear your views on these issues as much as I'd like to hear your criticism for the poem in general.

I very seldom reply to reviews, but I promise I read EVERY single one. I look forward to my next review, because it helps me learn. Even if it's just one word, I promise, I will be ecstatic to have the chance to hear what you have to say. Whenever you write something about my poems, or the themes of my poems, or criticize me it is not in vain. I will listen, learn and be thankful.

Thank you for reading!
Very true. You've very well explained the lives of the so-called 'kings' in much detail. Greed and hunger could destroy a person to extents no one could ever imagine. A great topic to write about and a great and courageous write as well. Keep writing!
