Storm

Storm

A Poem by Sharon Kim
"

A poem about unexpectedly losing someone.

"

                  Storm

A gentle breeze blew at my back

                easing me forward.

The sun shone down happily upon my face

spreading joy and contentment through me.

Love hung about me like a cloak,

shielding and protecting me,

and I gazed at the world with wonder.

Then, the wind picked up and became a

                terrifying gale.

The sky became black and the heavens opened up

shedding tears in a torrential downpour.

I tried in vain to hold onto the cloak but it began to

strain and rip against the force of the wind.

With a horrendous tearing noise,

                I saw it carried away.

I looked down at my hands.

Only remnants of the cloak remained.

Parts of a whole, never to be made one again,

And I longed to look away.

A wonderful write Sharon. Love is so unpredictable. You have described destruction of love extremely well.
Thank you

"Shedding tears in a torrential downpour." Love it. This poem perfectly captures how quickly love can destroy us. A good read and write!
