Maze

Maze

A Poem by Sharon Kim

Maze

There are no signs to tell the way

Walls rise up on all sides

Immovable, utterly solid

Forwards, Backwards, Left, Right

It all looks familiar

Frustration breeds anger

Anger breeds sorrow

Sorrow breeds despair

And there are no signs to tell the way.

Clouds darken the sky

Birds scream and wheel overhead

They won’t lead the way

Forwards, Backwards, Left, Right

The choices remain the same

Crying, Screaming, Punching,

Walking, Kicking, Running

The end is no closer

And there are no signs to tell the way.

Life, as they say, does not come with an owners manual.
I loved the balance between the two stanzas. wel crafted there. And the wording regarding the birds was well cosen. "Wheel" is the perfect description for the flight you wished to show - a circle leading back to the start. not a path to follow.
A strong piece Sharon.

What's Maze ... according to you, you've well expressed into the words and well converted your feelings, our thoughts in your poetic way. Keep writing.

Life IS a maze..there is no getting away from it...until of course...you DO

Blimey THAT was deep.

Loved the poem though, how many times do we go over the past in our search for the future?

Seems the verse gets the best of you... a maze and trapped in a reality where everything you do does nothing... physically and mentally the anguish is felt in this one...

Some days do feel like this never ending, sign-less maze, where we are left to look for the goal on our own. You expressed this frustration well, Sharon!

You are right, some days do feel like this! Thankfully, most days don't! Thanks for reading!
This reminds me of the maze in 'The Shining'...and how we all feel trapped with no way out at times. A perfectly captured description!

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy...creepy!
Oh my… I really enjoyed reading this. The emotion and message is very clear. The simplicity of your words is right for this topic.

Thanks for reading! :) Glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome imagery! Well written as it made me anxious the further i got into the poem. I also REALLY liked the repeat of the last line in both stanzas.
