The fine line.

The fine line.

A Poem by Suditi
"

When we start taking our dreams seriously, life is bound to become ironic.

"
The Fine line

An unimportant question then,
Its the only answer now.

It was so easy then,
It is so much harder now.

It was immaterial then,
It has become my pride now.

 A non-existent treasure then,
It is my oxygen now.

It was totally crazy then,
It is my sanity now.

It was my happy refuge then,
Its what hurts the most now.

It was a mere distraction then,
It is my North star now.

It was almost Evil then,
It has become my God now.

What seemed so surreal then,
It is my entire being now.

It didn't belong to the jigsaw then,
It is the entire picture now.

It was a far fetched fantasy then,
It is my only dream now.

I believe this is something almost everyone can relate to. We might have dreamed of becoming something, but now, when we are sure that we WANT to be what we dreamt of, we face unneeded obstacles. Intriguing structure for your poem, but I think it paid off. Very good write!

You've done an amazing job with this piece! It sounds just right when read aloud, and it's something that pretty much everyone could relate to in some way.

I love poems that sound right when read aloud, and this is one of them. I like the progression, and I think everyone who's been through teenage will get this, and love it. Cheers!

This was a really good job. The whole piece I can relate too. I agree I was different from when I was younger as well. Thanks for sharing.

A fine line indeed , ironic the way we plan our lives in neat boxes and then life happens . Where we start off what we become and sometimes God gives us what we need rather then what we want .

Thank you for this recurring guidance. The ongoing turns within each couplet, the idea that each one refers to the gathering "it", which each reader is able to fill in the blank with, depending on their own translation. Truth, indeed, that which pulls apart can bind with the flip of Destiny. Beautiful read.

Great poem. Really unique. I love the way you shift time between the present and past. Gives a powerful sense of emotional shift over time.
