Smile Like You Mean It

Smile Like You Mean It

A Poem by Sunshine Kid

Fire flicker
Free the mind
Tear trickle
Rip the heart
From its normality
And
Conformity.
Meet you halfway
Down the corner
And whatnot.
Meet you where
The sun can always
Shine.
Meet you where
You make
Me smile.
Meet you where
Others don’t care
(Or rather
They do
But not skeptically).
Meet you where
Our minds meld
Permanently
Into one
Soul
Where two
Really do become
One.
Meet you where
My book ends
And yours
Starts
As it should.
Meet you where
“I love you”
Is enough.
Always
Enough.
I love you.
Fire flicker
Tear trickle
Rip me apart
Then I can
Start again.
