Beyond

Beyond the lilac mist of the twilight

where tousled sheets and limbs entwine

and red lipstick on a satin pillow

are empty glasses of elderberry wine~

 

Beyond the burning wick of candlelight

still warm from the night before

is the whisper of passionate sighs

still lingering within French doors~

 

Beyond the halo of moonlight

where dark and the light kiss goodbye

and ravished skin once moonlight burned

vanishes with the question why?

Hi Rose. A beautiful write, delightfully sensual, passionate and romantic. Lovely presentation. Vivid imagery, good flow and tone. Line to line transition and breaks are done well. Nice rhythm and enjambment. Rhyme is nicely done. Every second/fourth line in each stanza is near perfect masculine end line rhyme that's executed well in this piece. Deep expression of emotion. Good word choice and closing lines. Well penned and a much enjoyed read. Write on!
