Beauty

Beauty

A Poem by T.S. Ulmus
"

It's rough, but a touch from The Muse.

"
10 seconds of beauty

I saw a butterfly today
    Magnificent
It's slowly laid its wings
    And lifted them up
On the asphalt before me
A fairy or goddess of beauty
   Blessing only me with
      An awesome moment
Then a crow snatched it up
   In it's dark beak
Didn't even fly away
Just stood before me
   And stared
One bite
   Two
Took 3 to swallow it whole
His feathers so sheen And lustrous

All the more glorious

This is quite timely because just yesterday I had a conversation about the last time I saw a butterfly and then just a few moments later, both a butterfly and a dragonfly crossed my path. It was quite surreal. It just tells me that such things of beauty are always around, and unfortunately, preyed upon by those higher up the food chain.

we had better enjoy that which is beautiful in life while it lasts, because so often it is short lived.
And there are those who seem to hate beauty and want to tarnish it...erase it, gobble it up and spit it out.
No wonder a group of them is called a Murder of Crows, it fits.

It is, sometimes, difficult to witness Nature's vicious beauty.
Come to think of it, those words aptly describe your powerful poem: viciously beautiful.
Work to be admired, T.

You just never know the minute it will come crashing to an end and judging by all the hidden terrors lurking out there, it's pretty amazing we even make it beyond crawl to walk.
Must have put a bit of a dent in your day too though, watching beauty turning into the deleted scenes from platoon.
Life is indeed fleeting, but you can't fault natures recycling efficiency. Liked the lustrous sheen line, ties it all up so well.

Nature is both beautiful and cruel. She provides and deprives.
This is a nice reminder of how precious life is. We could lose it at any moment.
