Thirteen Paces

Thirteen Paces

A Poem by Tania Leigh
"

I'm on a "phobia" kick lately...

"

Thirteen paces forward,

then thirteen more behind.

Triskaedekaphobia and

O.C.D. both rule my mind;

a dichotomy of psychology,

no stranger affliction will you find

than thirteen paces forward

and thirteen more behind.

Author's Note

Triskaedekaphobia is the fear of the number thirteen....I figured if it was coupled with obsessive-compulsive disorder, it would make for a very troubling affliction, as a person would be compelled to keep repeating the very thing that they fear the most...

Oh man, I would go nuts! Thirteen's my favorite number and brings me great luck! The world just wouldn't be the same not being able to enjoy Friday the Thirteenth or Thirteen Oreos, or Thirteen quarters at a favorite pinball machine!
Great Write Tania! :)

That is an interesting theory, wonder how those people actually get through their daily routine. Great job

I think the 'Munsters' used to live at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. I guess anyone with Triskaedekaphobia wouldn't venture upon their driveway. Hell, I wouldn't go to their house either. lol. A great movie that shows O.C.D. is "Matchstick Men" with Nicholas Cage.
These afflictions probably take over their life completely, sadly enough. I know there are great strides made with medications to help. Your tiny poem contains so much information to ponder on. Extremely well thought out and a great presentation of an unusual word and subject!

Being the obsessive compulsive person that I am, I can see how this would be cumbersome to a similar individual. A very intriguing piece for someone who can relate to such afflictions. You can be pretty twisted sometimes Sis and I LOVE it!!

I loved this. This is just so awesome. People get stuck in a spot where their worst fears have to be faced, whether they like it or not. Oh, and I didn't know what Triskaedekaphobia was.. Til now, lol. I learned a new word! Anyways, Just an awesome write.

Thank you,
~Rob~

I once new of a place called the 13 steps to hell, no one was ever able to make it down to the bottom step, because the stench was so bad! So no one ever found out where the stairs went. They were in the middle of an old field, where a house used to be a life time ago.
I've know people with OCD, it must be frustrating!
Good write!
