Mum

Mum

A Poem by Terence Sheque
"

A tribute to a mother

"
God sent an angel,
And I called her Mum,
From a hapless babe, to man I’ve become,
She’s stood by me, and held me strong.

With a firm rap she set me right,
And her warm caress, my days were bright,
She lifts me up, whenever I fall
She’s always there, at my beck and call.

Sleepless nights and silent tears,
She prays for me and all my fears,
And even though, I hurt her hard,
She’s only love, an angelic guard.

And I pray to God, and thank him right,
For having his angel, to make my life bright.

I found this poem by using WC's new discover feature, which is an awesome tool! I like this heartfelt poem, but I have a suggestion about the rhyme scheme. Your first stanza is an ABBC rhyme, and the rest of the poem is rhyming couplets. The last stanza uses a rhyme that you used previously in the poem, right/bright. You may want to try, in the future, using the rhyme scheme ABCB or ABAB for the first few stanzas, and then finish the poem with a rhyming couplet as the last stanza. Your heart is in the right place, and that's the most important thing.

I like this. I can feel your love and appreciation for your mother and I can relate as I too love my mother and appreciate her greatly. I would suggest going over it again tho and reworking parts to make them flow better which will give the piece a better rhythm that added to the rhymes will make it a great read.
