A Great Escape

A Great Escape

A Poem by Lydia
"

Escape to your imagination

"

Creeping past your inner thoughts

Simply because I don't want to be nosy

Shadowing your empty stare

Leaving behind the butterflies that used to make you feel warm and cozy

Creating your own little world

Where you distance yourself from everyone else

Waltzing away into your own imagination

I hope you find peace in your closed away cell

You trap yourself in the darkness

Slowly getting farther and farther from actuality

Getting even more caught up in your fantasy universe

Some are beginning to question the level of your mentality

But I know that you aren't insane

You were just afraid of what your existence was coming to

You felt like everything was crashing down

So you bid this nightmare of a place adieu

In a way I think you're quite smart

For escaping in such a creative way

It's also a tad bit sad

That you'll never be the same for even one more day

I just hope that you're content

Wherever your young mind wanders

I hope you become what you always wanted to be

And that you no longer feel like just a number.

I'm dealing a situation just like this one. It's so true and I get so worried sometimes. But thank you so much. You have a wonderful talent for writing poems.

Not a pretentious read at all like some other poems I have read. I like that it is direct. Good one :)

You are really quite an amazing poem writer. Your poems really do remind me of my writing style. Free and thought inducing. Not always straightforward but the meaning is still there.

The first thing I thought of when I read this poem was a song a friend of mine was composing. Same basic message. It was a good poem but I was about to disagree until I saw you acknowledge the reality of the situation.

"It's also a tad bit sad."

I was arguing with a friend about this the other day.
If everyone used the excuse well "Death is better than". We'd all be dead.
If everyone used the excuse "Life is hard" and gave up. We'd advance nowhere.

My dad sent me an article not to long ago about a boy/now a man; who came from a very poor village and somehow managed to come to America and land himself in the science/tech field at UCLA. That was pretty amazing to read.

My dad's only reply to my response was, "There are no excuses in life."

He was right. :)
Good poem.
Everything was there.
I just felt that some sentences didn't flow quite correctly, and this is a topic I've seen a lot of writers pen about. It could've been a lot more deeper. Still, it was pretty good. Only reason.
