This Light Is Not Hope

This Light Is Not Hope

A Poem by t.m.
"

Who were we to cheat death?

"

It once gave me happiness to see your face.

I smiled because you smiled.

I laughed because you laughed.

I had finally figured it all out.

.....

It feels so trivial now, the emotions that you stirred within me.

The smiles, the laughter, the want to be close to you.

.....

Was it wasted?

Was I wasted?

Were we wasted?

.....

Every lover that's passed through my heart and carved their initials as reminders.

Yours are amongst them.

And yet...

You and I have never even touched.

.....

I lost myself in your world.

You didn't come to my rescue.

.....

What happened to forever?

Did I break my promise first or did you?

When did our words become so meaningless?

.....

Being thrown back into reality shook me.

I slipped and fell to the cold, dirty ground where I stayed down.

I still wanted everything you had to offer.

I still want everything you have to offer.

.....

We asked the questions with the most insignificance.

We toyed with fate.

.....

Who were we to cheat death?

Who were we to shake the foundation of life itself?

Who were we?

.....

Who are we?

Gives me the feeling of confusion while being in a state of mind that is not completely clear because love gets in the way. It can make us have crazy thoughts and ask ourselves questions that anyone could easily answer on the outside looking in. Well done.

~ we are human beings with a phenomenal propensity to err... and we usually make a mistake when it comes to serious issues... in fact, we make lots of mistakes before we get our questions and answers right... ~ this is an amazingly insightful piece of writing and i think you are asking all the right questions... this process will lead you towards greater clarity of thought...

Thank you. :) I'll be posting some more this weekend..
did the idea of this person die before contact was made....was this person a fantasy or an illusion?

leaves it open for the reader to ponder...maybe a bit too open...but that might just be me..

i was vascillating between death of the loved one before they met...or just death of the idea of love.

A fantasy or illusion? ..Something very much like that, yes.
Flows very well. Despite all the questions, everything is so profound.
