(The Parlour) Noise

(The Parlour) Noise

A Poem by John Holmes

Can't you hear it?
the ticking, the flowing
The insufferable calamity
that is this blasted noise.
Ticking time
Flowing fate
The Screaming, hollow screams of life
clawing into my mind
Can't you hear it?
Snapping fates
and dying Dreams
The Cursed smell of Decay
is ever present on the air.
How can you ignore all of this noise
pounding hearts and creaking bones
like the foundations of the Earth
Screaming nightmares in your head
sing in my ears
like the ringing of bells
in commemoration of the dead.
Oh Blast this noise!
and its demands!
I don't want to hear another soul again
Ever Again.
