There's always someone looking !

There's always someone looking !

A Poem by Tom
"

Don't let yourself down.....

"

Mrs Most, the perfect host, loved to boast,

of her lifestyle celebrity

Cordon bleu, through and through, preparing food,

in front of all and sundry

Then for dessert, a speculative flirt, with something inert,

made from an illicit tree !

But, 'my o my', a passing fly, got rather high

and told a busy bee

Whose clear dismay at this affray, did not delay,

rightful expediency

And so informed the press, about this sordid mess and the rest,

as they say is history !

P.C. Plum, liked to beat his drum, no one’s chum,

when on patrol

On road or street, never discreet, had targets to meet,

promotion his only goal

He reported his Aunt Annie, his Uncle Danny even his Granny,

a vigilante, without heart or soul !

Then after duty, all smug and snooty, not on footie,

drove to a public house

At the bar, he drank more than a jar, then returned to his car,

like an unprincipled louse

But an angry wasp, told an albatross who notified his boss,

now Mr Plum has no job or spouse!

Little Lord Fauntleroy, a spoilt boy, foul play his deceitful ploy,

to win every game

Batting at the wicket, playing cricket, he thinly nicked it,

though remained without shame

But the umpire had no doubt, it was a worthy shout and gave him out,

so his lordship, called him a nasty name!

Then a watching toad from a nearby road, told a crow to dispatch its load,

most unceremoniously

it landed dead on his lordship’s head and nothing more was said,

rude or pretentiously

so take heed, no matter class or creed, beware, the perils of weed

and never concede, your moral integrity !

Whether cooking or booking, bowling or hooking,

keep your dignity intact, as here's a fact, there’s always someone looking!

Author's Note

Tom
The term 'hooking' in the game of cricket is a spectacular shot by the batsman and incase you don't still know. the umpire is the sole adjudicator like a referee in football, his decision is final !

I like the dash of humor with just the right amount of cheeky. All told in splendid lyrical narrative that all ties up in the end with a moral stand. loved it on principle as well as the way it rolls of the tongue when said out loud. Yes i just read it out loud lol

Thank you kindly Neville!
I love the way you blend something so familiar to you in a way that works for people who even don't know all the rules of the game into a relatable piece, very clever indeed.

Thank you once more Kl for your encouraging comments !
Love your way with words, unique but great the way you did this. And so clever how you rhymed it in one sentence in parts. Ah, how anything can be the talks of the town, ha. But sometimes can get one in trouble if what's said is not true. Enjoyed this piece muchly.

Wise words, Tom! I like your inclusion of animals in teaching the readers a lesson. The poem flows very well, too, with interesting narration. I greatly enjoyed the read.

I so enjoyed the flow of this Tom, the rhyme and rhythm were fun to read. The message was clear as well! I will say that I love how you were able to incorporate Cricket into this, pure Tom style. :)

Thank you very much Dye for your classy review !
A wonderfully worded poem , had me in fear and giggling at the same time! Do you know, I have also had your thoughts of 'nature's spies'. But do you know, a friend told me that it is possible to put a listeneing bug on a fly's body!!!!! They would get a shock if the fly started talking back!

Thank you Jonathan!
A delightful poem, Tom. That "illicit tree" has ended up causing lots of folks a lot of headaches and, at least for Little Lord Fauntleroy, a rather dirty one, too. You rhyme and rhythm add a lot to the humorous tone of your poem. Great job!

Thank you Gleb!
the rhyme scheme in this thing is splendid. I'd fall all over myself trying to get the mechanics of it. But the story too is wonderful and carries some real truth. I laughed while I read it but I didn't miss the point of the tale.
