a poem about the autumn of our lifes

 

The Autumn of my life is upon me,

 

Reflecting hastens the burn,

 

Melancholy moments and sunrises,

 

Just waiting for the last leaf to turn.

IT sucks turning 60
but I guess it's better than not getting there.

Knowing I will work till I die is kinda disheartening
but what can you do? Cross to bear and all that crap! Thank you for reading my stuff. I need to get back to my story telling poetry.

This reminds me a bit of the antithesis to "Rage, rage against the dying of the light"... This is a resignation of the waiting that comes as we grow older and find ourselves facing new "seasons". I like the quiet honesty of this one, and the language is lovely as well.

This was written due to a conversatio. I had with my mother.
She has had several heart attacks in the past few months since her husband died
And I think she knows her time is near.
