Tearing

Tearing

A Poem by Benjamin L. Weekly

Tearing away from you was torture,
Haunted my soul night and day.
But because of it we can nurture
Our love so it's here to stay.

Only time can tell whether our love
Was just a cheap fantasy;
If it's something we will rise above
Or enter in ecstasy.

I hope you have the strength to endure
Since it's hard to keep apart.
If these feelings don't fade, I am sure
A new life together we'll start.

A great line 'Only time can tell whether our love was just a cheap fantasy' - this is always my greatest debate. If only I could look into the future and know what was coming. Your thinking in this poem is spot on. Not sure if I agree that 'it's a good pain' though....

Makes me wonder if I will ever feel that love for him again.

David Eckert's review is perfect; I'd like to mirror his words.
Two reflections in a lake, your poem and his review.
I'm grateful for both.

it is some times absence that makes the haert grow fonder
i like how this particular poem is shorter than most because it still imparted the emotion without losing the main idea in a long stretch of words

I loved it...a lot of other poems may have been awkward in the rhyming scheme, but you made it fit.

Oh I loved it.

Only time can tell whether our love
Was just a cheap fantasy;

So true!

New love always leaves one wondering. Will this be the one, the time, the love that will last? Can I imagine being together in a year, two, ten, forever. Will he/she be there for me, love me care for me? Yet it's only the beginning. Our fantasies and hopes our sweetest sometimes before we know what's to be.

Really sweet. Love in motion with all the good enduring emotions that keep the spark alive. What a way to say to the one you love... let's keep going!

This reads like something from those old jazz songs. Gorgeous! Lovely and serene.
