Lava

Lava

A Poem by Benjamin L. Weekly
"

For the "Without Words" contest held some time ago...

"

Cannons of lava and barrels of ash
Relentlessly scarring earth and plant.
Barraging waves and copious mists
Gently caressing silken sands.

Tributaries of magma
Cascading in a torrent.
Rising swells of the ocean
Leaping in excitement.

Glowing red attacks,
Consuming grains by shore.
Gleaming blue defends,
Saturating flakes by wave.

Molten forces hiss and scream,
Congealing under waters power.
Conquering aqua avalanches in,
Blanketing it with cold assertion.

Mother volcano rumbles,
Lamenting as it has lost again.
Matriarch ocean crashes,
Singing as it has won again.

Felt something sexual in this and can only guess that's what you mean by the many different meanings. Of course, I'm sure the battle between fire and water comes into this somewhere as well.
Nice work.

Very vivid piece..........a war of elements, a volcano and the sea...........your expression and imagary is very very captivating!
Almost as if these two elements are life and human in subject.

Mother volcano rumbles,
Lamenting as it has lost again.
Matriarch ocean crashes,
Singing as it has won again.

Perfect, and fitting end.........the rage calmed by the cool water.

Huh... Interesing. I find it influencing that you have the poem in-between the picture of lava at the top and the picture of water at the bottom. The wording, uneccesarily complicated as it may be sometimes, really brings this battle into a close-up. The actions do well to tell of this single event, isolated from the rest of the world in it's own little time and space. You make it sound like they are entities capable of thought, and so with that said I must say I enjoyed this.
