Drowning in Sorrow

Drowning in Sorrow

A Poem by James Mckay

She sits there with her heart broken
it has literally been ripped open
her tears trickle down her face
She cries and cries and aches in pain
as each teardrop falls like rain
Oh she longs for a sweet embrace

The note she continues to clench
Her dress is completely drenched
She has been made to feel incomplete
As each droplet continuously flows
There is no place for them to go
A puddle starts to form at her feet

She glances over the words again
To see if she misread it and then
It just caused her eyes to open wide
There was no turning off it
As they flushed out like a faucet
Because the hurt couldn't be kept inside

Soon the tears would rise
If had finally reached her thighs
Then she dropped to her knees
As she screamed with every breath
The tear level was just below her breast
For the level of torture never ceased

Now that it could never mend
It was right underneath her chin
She won't have to worry about tomorrow
Above her head, was the last drop
Then suddenly her heart had stopped
She finally drowned in her own sorrow!
