A Public Spectacle

A Public Spectacle

A Chapter by Ursula Kay Vos

A poem about insecurities in relationships

A Public Spectacle

I’m Boring

I’m not enough

My friends returned

This road, too rough!

Settling in,

Our daily routines

You say you want this

That it’s your dream.

Untouched skin,

A different tale told,

Days grow ever longer,

As the air grows bitter cold

Irony’s cruel twist

As some may say

This wild heart you tamed,

But now your flame flickers

Smoldering to but a puff of smoke

As it ashes away

Retribution for a life,

A string of broken hearts,

As this runaway bride

Packed running shoes from the start.

Once afraid of love

Always finding flaws

Now sitting in a garage

Penning a poem of woes

Tales of sorrow

Her heart has now sung- not caused

What drew me in

Blinded me so well

A man so in control

What was I to do?

Little did I know

Right from the start

You kept one foot out the door

And a hand on the switch

That turned off

This limited viewing of your heart

Curtain drawn

You take a bow

I sit alone in the crowd

A play for fools

Is finished now.

Absolutley heartbreaking. A slow paced, painful poem, that draws out the anguish of lonliness and empotional turmoil like no other. Incredible work. I loved it. Pen and paper pain, displayed for the world to see. It's pace perfectly matched to the slowness of the piece and emotional crush. The theme. Universal, especially at this time of year. The quality, undeniably rich and shining.

I liked it. Can you tell?

Such an heartfelt poem, the so called "routine" is just, a civil thing I think, it's easily to judge on it from out of opinion of outsiders... the real person knows, if it is true or not. You capture it here, as truly felt. I appreciate your honesty in this piece. (not knowing sure ofcourse if it's all written out of personal experience, or that you just can write with a theme, like I can do often) "people can easily assume things they read... so I rather not do that :)" but I can feel the wild person is tempt so bad in this write that in addition to her own reality of fully 200% living, temporarily is frozen by the other until she writes all sorrows, on paper, from the moment she sat in the garage... Very captivating this one, I love it, as I was in the past a runnaway one too, till I met my love where I am now for almost 12 year with. This is such an marvelous write. Maybe some thoughts come more expressive out in this time before the (I hate a.k.a. full ;) christmas) but other half of me likes this s****y glitter and glamour~ it's so double lol I love your writings, they are so "unique" thanks dear xx
