Betrayal

Betrayal

A Poem by VKS

You didn't support me when I needed you,
You neglected me when I needed you the most
You took his side... you stood by him.
You talked behind my back, accusing me of the crime, accusing me of a date-rape drug.
Your daughter, your baby daughter, you took his side over mine.
You watched me whither away, you watched me abuse myself to the brink.
You watched them resuscitate me after my failed attempt.
and still, today, you take his side.
You let your daughter go.
You chose a rapist over me.
You manipulated me making me believe that holding my abuse in was in "my best interest"
it was all for you, to protect your face.
It was always all about you.
You thought I'd never see it for what it is, but too bad, I see it loud and clear, now.
And today I say goodbye to you and for everything you put me through
I put it behind me so I can move on from you.

After looking at this offering and the two previous ones, plus the stats section, I get some idea of what is motivating this writer. Rape is a horrible crime under any circumstances, and when betrayal is thrown into the bargain, the resultant wound is all the more deep. The anger here is white hot and may take a long time to lessen. In the end, though, it will have to be dealt with, or it will sap the life of the one who entertains it.
