Flames of loneliness

Flames of loneliness

A Poem by Trent Files

A flash in the night
An angel had fallen from above
Surrounded by blazing light
Burning the darkness away
Revealing a beauty so splendid
It melted the ice from my heart
A gaze from her illustrious eyes had surely mended
This broken form of mine
Healing my fractured soul
And easing my distraught mind
She made me whole
And gave me a light in the dark
Her voice of music and perfect harmony
Eyes of delicious jade
And flowing hair of golden mahogany
To frame a face of splendour
She looked upon me when I was all but healed
And lifted my spirits up
From whence they kneeled
She showed me kindness when others showed me hate
Then it happened so suddenly
One night she had left
Into the wind she had gone and left me
And then I knew the coldness once more
I had never felt so much pain
All I desired had been here
And gone as quickly as falling rain
Leaving me alone
I was stranded
Forlorn once more
A hefty blow had landed
Upon my heavy heart
If I had never cried
Before this time
I shed so much I nearly died
In a pool of empty tears
So I continue my eternal quest
To find the fallen angel
Because without her my soul can never rest
Knowing I am alone
And if perchance she hears my words
I beg that she returns
For my heart cannot bear to beat without
So it always burns
Forever lashed by the flames of loneliness
