We Forgive Because We Must

We Forgive Because We Must

A Poem by Trent Files
"

Haven't written in a while so here it is.

"

Nothing is set in stone

nor cast to sea

But the final words you spoke

They still linger with me

Words so empty

Yet so full of feeling

A voice echoing in my head

Its not mine but it sends me reeling

I wish I could take this voice

And make it real

To hear those words again

From your lips would make me feel

Whole once more-

Lay me to rest

Relieve my hearts aches

Dry up the hopeful tears

That flow like rivers into lakes

Sail into the dawn

On a sea of trust

Bear me anew

We forgive because we must.
