Never

Never

A Poem by Ian Faraway

Darkness starts to creep into my head
When the day is now night
And I lay down to rest on my bed
Exhausted to the point of paralysis
But I'm not asleep
Never Asleep

Silence seems to taunt me endlessly
Dangling my past as I try to drift away
Into a deep sleep ever so desperately
Images flash through my head of what was
But they're not happy
Never happy

Unrest and self loathing grow
As my past screams in my ear
Though I swore to myself I'd let go
I wish I could get over the disappointment
But it's not easy
Never easy

All I want to do is sleep away
Until my brain stops torturing me
With the failures of yesterday
How can I when I'm torn
But my mind won't let me forget
Never forget

I like the ending as it insinuates something dark from the past that still haunts the subconscious preventing sleep. Well done.

This sounds like a terrible case of insomnia... I've been there...
It's tough when your mind is reeling with a constant barrage of self-loathing... when your heart is at peace so will your mind, and the rest follows. Writing is the first step.... Well done, Ian. ~xoxo~

This is a very powerful poem, I personally do not like the rhyming pattern but besides that I believe this to be well written and full of potential. Great job :)
