The Phonebook Chronicles

The Phonebook Chronicles

A Poem by A. V. Madison

Today I found my old phonebook

So I decided to take a look

And when I got to the C's, I saw your name

I realized that things were still the same

This hell I am put through

is nothing less that hate

the only memory I have of you

is the kiss on our first date

But something made me call that number

because of you, I got somehow infected

and my heart stop beating for a moment

when I found out that your number was disconnected

It is funny and tragic. I don't know what I like more. On one side there is a wistful side which wants to leave everything to imagination ( how it could have been if the number had not been disconnected). The other half wishes it to be a reality. There is a dash of wistfulness which I loved. I really enjoyed reading it. :)

Yes I realize that. What I meant by "reality" was for you being able to connect with him. :)

Oh ok xD
It's soooo original, and well said... cheesy? I guess, not, it spoke volumes even through a roaming network or a national, the haunting desire was there. And who cares? if you loved you loved, at least you dared... Amazing.

It's not cheesy because your rhythm is so precise and your rhymes are original - and that's hard to achieve.

Thank you :)
Oh....well with an old phonebook this is likely to happen. And this sounds like something someone might actually do.
Look at the second line of your second verse; I think you mean "than" rather than "that".
