The Love Of That

The Love Of That

A Poem by A. V. Madison

It seems everytime we get just close enough

to kiss

One of us pulls away just before the welcomed

bliss

I just feel so close that I might just be able to

smell that ginger ale smell

and taste that M&M taste

I don't know what love feels like

but if I ever get close

I'll remember that euphoria

I promise to make the most

I feel like I've known you so long that you're a part of my DNA

I'm just another hair in your Red Sox hat

you're just another bit of lipstick on your cheek from me

we're just another love of that

Just another preteen pleasure, I suppose

Your arms so unwind from my neck

to tell me i'm not ugly or fat

but just when I think i've returned them there

Perhaps we're just another love of that

Author's Note

A. V. Madison
I don't know what love feels like, but If I ever get close, i'll remember that euphoria, I promise to make the most:

Months ago, a past love interest told me "If you ever fall in love, don't ever allow it to be much better than this."
(That's what that stanza means, in case you're wondering)

Generally speaking I write about and try to tear down the love of "this" however I adore your poem the love of "that" this and that are similar things the here and now and the want and need. Nice write -s.
