Just A Teen

Just A Teen

A Poem by A. V. Madison

Night surfing and laughing

Corona with a little lime

and you whisper in my ear

"Let's not waste a good time,"

And I'm sitting on your shoulders

singing along to the radio

and the only thing I'm thinking about

is melting into the stereo.

And our parents think we're at school

But we got in Matt's blue Toyota

because we are all just that cool

and drove to this tiny little beach

And we're not emo, we're not preppy

we're not crazy, we're not scene

we're just gonna be us

and we're just teens.

This is fun, reminds me of my own teenage years but also how it felt to do as I pleased when I pleased, based on nothing but my own wanton desires.... ah good times! hehe It's great poetry that makes one feel, and this one did so, and very well. Excellent write.

The ten years are a time to take chance, make mistakes and just have fun... your poem is taking me back in time.

Very cool! I like the fourth stanza-because we are all just that cool! Awesome poem, Maddie!

I like the story you tell here. And the ending is nice, I really like the 'we're just teens' part.
