Even if it's wrong

Following the shadow of my lost and distant dreams,

longing for the smile once before

Nothing really matters or is close to what it seems,

trying just to even up the score

 

Pathways lead me walking to a place I don’t belong,

weaving here and there along the way

Counting out my steps I wonder, who could be so wrong,

shouting out with nothing much to say

 

Why is this so difficult these worried twists and turns,

when my eyes can see what waits ahead

Finding each mistake is how another never learns,

maybe it was something that I said

 

Can’t you please direct me to the comfort that I seek,

just a guiding hand to point the place

Thinking I am stronger when I feel so very weak,

see the promised look upon my face

 

Life can be so heavy in a funny wayward state,

weight upon my shoulders pressing down

Gazing to the future for the past is just my fate,

poetry becomes my thorny crown

 

So I sit here writing out my feelings once again,

fighting fast and hard throughout the night

For it is a curse, my hand just can’t put down this pen,

even if it’s wrong, these things I write

so true, it seems most nights i am awake at 2-3am, always writing something, even if it is wrong. I find nuggets, here and there when i read back thru the mountains of drivvel. this poem jives with one of my mantras "let's do something, even if it is wrong" I like to keep the wheels turning, sometimes the "lost" places I end up are interesting. I enjoyed contemplating upon your words here. As life progresses, we lose the joy in merely existing as we did in our youth. There is a diffuse anxiety for no reason and an uncertainity about life even though we see things with more clarity than we ever did. Our baggage too seems heavier than before. I think we are redeemed by our writing. It is what keeps us going and gives us the courage to face certain inevitabilities. So let your pen flow because nothing can come out of it but good and positivity. Keep shining!

You are welcome. I often moved away from writing but have lately realized that it isn't for others that we write but for ourselves. It is an integral part of our wellbeing. So we must go on regardless of the dissapointment we feel sometimes.
