Puppy love

 

I was sitting on the beach enjoying the day

when the cutest little puppy ran up and climbed in my lap.

 

As I was petting it she walked up, tanned skin, mesmerizing eyes, 

a summer day smile that was as bright as the sun, saying, 

"You silly puppy, there you are."

 

While lifting the little dog up to her, I complimented, "She sure is beautiful!" 

 

"Oh thanks, but it's a boy," was her happy reply.

 

I smiled and said, "I know, I was talking to the puppy."

Was this when you met whomever you write all your poems for? Had me thinking in a few directions. At first I thought, oh, she's pregnant. Took me a sec to get it. I think I was looking for a mystery and ended up with a word-twister.

I count four periods. Marks and points. How very punctual of you! Right on time. I was beginning to think you missed first PERIOD in grammer school.
