Another day is dawning

Another day is dawning

A Poem by willweb

~

The morning sun does slowly rise,

a lighthouse stands at ease

Its silhouette of nights untold,

awakes on satin seas

A silent beach in glistened glow

bids farewell to the tide

I walk this lonely stretch of sand,

my thoughts collect inside

Counting steps, the marks they leave

of places I have been

Past weathered dunes along the way

till I’m with you again

As crimson paints horizon’s fire,

in shades of pastel hue

Another day is dawning as

I only think of you

Surely these words are far more than nostalgia and familiarity. Here, set in fine meter and gentle
language is loneliness, absence, sorrow, pain. One can't dilute or dissolve such feelings.

Thanks so very much James, your comments humble me.
What a gentle romantic picture you paint with your words. I very much enjoyed. I'm always a
"sucker for the sand and sea" like Kenny Chesney sings in his song, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems. We have quite a few lighthouses here off our outer banks. I've visited all of them.

Another day dawns and lazily yawns itself awake, to your rhythmic words and feeling of optimism and hope, that maybe just maybe, you will catch a sight of her today.
Beautifully captured Will.
