First

First

A Poem by Tiny Drop

Today, you looked at the sky
And I saw you were wandering high.
Above the clouds your mind danced,
Your eyes sparkly as if in a trance.

I pulled you close to me afraid you would let go
I held your hand in mine afraid you would know
The feelings which laid deep inside
Rooted and hidden from the outside.

Yet you looked at me knowingly
As if you knew it all
Your smile all but disgust
As you appreciated my soul.

Your lips trembled and I could resist no more
Stole a kiss from you and the world just stopped
Your hand found mine as my eyes grew shut
Our bodies quickly molding into one.

That was the story of our first smile
Which soon turned into our first lie.

This one spends most of the time building us up with its description of burgeoning love, then in the last line pulls the rug out from under us. Of course, we don't know for sure how the relationship went thereafter, but the implication of trouble is planted. Clever work.
