Silence Was The Water

Silence Was The Water

A Poem by Starr
"

Silence can hide many things and End many things....

"
I reached for her hand
But she was too far
She was gurgling water
Desperately reaching for something
I reached and reached

Splash

I fell in
I couldn't swim!
Finding strength and courage
I reached for her
Pulled her to shore
Trying best to stay afloat

Laying her on the half mud half sand beach
Her face was pale
Chest not moving

Nothing...

One, Two, Three
Breathe!

One, Two, Three
Breathe!

One, Two, Three
Breathe!

Coughing

She blinks her eyes and weakly smiles
I hug her and she wraps her arms around me
I wiped the tears

We could have both drowned
I looked towards the water
"How?"
The waves splashed to shore
Sun rising ever so slowly
The birds were silent
Crickets too
I looked to her and she sat up and wrapped around me

"Thank You!"

I turned my back to the water
So many times
So many days
I looked behind me and no one was in sight
The calmness of the lake soothed me
I miss her ever so dearly

The sun was setting ever so slowly
The birds were silent
Crickets too

I can't believe that that day was so down
Nothing was normal
Nothing seemed right
They saved me
Why not her!?
They told me see was to far gone
I was on the verge

I clench my jaw
The water seemed to still
Silence was everywhere
I looked behind me
Blue and Red lights flashed
I smirked

He got what he deserved!

I pulled the gun out and smiled
"Thanks sis for everything. I will see you soon."

I walked out in the water
Where she went down
I went deep enough
Exact spot
I couldn't touch
Pulling the silver gun up
I smiled and looked up

The cops yelled
"Drop the gun!"
"Hands up!"

I laughed
"Love you sis!"

~Silence~

The water settled ever so silently
Nothing but Silence
The waves never hit the shore
Sun setting
The birds never spoke
Crickets too

~Silence~

You did well and you are welcome.
You have crafted a very touching tale about the silence in the water. The ending was very unexpected.
