Nerd Alert

A Chapter by

It was 11PM, only an hour until the official launch of Lynthia. Every nerd in America was at their local game shop. For James and his friends, this would be their Seattle Gamestop. They had been lining up since 7PM that very night and were already getting a bit drowsy. James kept reminding himself of those amazing commercials and videos he'd seen on YouTube. To him, this was heaven. James and his crew were not far from the front of the line and they were hoping the store had enough copies of the game to go around. He preferred the PS3 as his gaming console, but he'd recently purchased a new console from Sony. It was called the PlayStation Leap. It was break-through technology which allowed players to get a much better user experience. He couldn't wait to try Lynthia on it.
Everyone waited and waited, occasionally slipping out to the bathroom only to find somebody rude had taken their spot in line. It had been a horrible experience and the mall was starting to get cold as it rained through the night. Finally, a Gamestop employee came to the door with some keys and opened it up. Surprisingly, the people and the front of the line didn't rush in, but waited for the door to close again. James checked his watch. It was only 11:45, so they needed time to prepare. It seemed like even the employee was surprised by the amount of people ready to buy Lynthia. He got out his phone to call his manager, just as James took out his phone to report back to mum. She didn't answer, so James assumed that she must have been asleep or her phone ran out of battery.
Finally, the store manager arrived with another employee and they slipped through the back entrance. They opened the main door as gamers rushed through it, trying to be first to buy Lynthia. Fortunately for James and his friends, the Gamestop employees were taking good care of them. After all, they were the youngest people there. It was an amazing game. It was being flashed on the televisions. People were trying it for themselves, using the store's demo console. James picked up a copy and leaped over to the counter. He wasn't surprised by the $150 price tag, but that's something he didn't tell his mother. His friends lined up behind him, waiting for him to pay. He moved off and waited for them to buy the game, a process that took no longer than a few minutes.
James walked home by himself, as his friends didn't live near him. He kept reading over the game information, looked at the instructions and checked out the game screenshots. It looked absolutely amazing and he couldn't wait to try it out for himself in the morning.
