~ Dreams in Baroque

Let me walk alone another night time,

For here I feel home, in the woods

        Of these forlorn times

Within my deepest solitude

     I make love to words,

             To nature, to you…

I hear the notes, my inner music

    Aching hauntingly

In the back of my mind

            Finding a place to rest

And when the day is coming,

        I’ll be out of sight,

 I shall not bother you,

             With my baroque mind

Yet I know you’re with me,

           Strongly day and night

Like a firefly around me,

           To land softly

                   On my shoulder

Let me breathe through all the pain,

     That never seems to end,

       I feel you, and within

           The light the moon weeps

As sharp as she shines now,

And as frozen as her tears

        There is calmness,

                 To my path

            Hope to my road,

Just  feel my love in distance, with no fear

       My presence without vain.

Be not afraid when I won’t return

      For together we already are…

You know, I have more than one

         Strong melody in my head,

I hear whole symphonies, like unseen worlds

    Countries large, and mountains high;

Each one is another road,

            And from there,

There are new wings to spread,

Flights of music to make, together

With you, and with our dreams

                   I hear thoughts

        Of a whole orchestra

                And listen to the message

I won’t bother you with this era

That lives in me, for in the end,

                      I can only hear it.

Love is like the wind, my man,

We are like the stream of essence

        It comes and goes, when it feels the need;

It’s as elusive as spring cannot touch winter,

And the birds not sing at night, but I…

        Just hummed some silent whispers

I felt they danced like little raindrops

O’er hills to you, to make music

          On your windowpane that day

And when you turned around, and slowly woke,

                 You felt a presence

You know I was with you, to love you

                 To make contact...

My dear friend, although it is in the first person I interpreted this piece as a walk between the personal experiences of two people. The narrator dives into her personal realm, to feel, to imagine, to love, to walk away. But it is a seperate (not necessarily different but seperate) experience from her lover. And in that negative space created by the words, one can't help but think of that lover, what is he thinking? Is he okay with this outcome? To that subjective trap, there is reconciliation in both characters experienceing the same thing, i.e., the rain storm that she is witness to and the music it creates on his widowpane . . . or mutual love, itself. There is a weave in his poem of touch and distance that is absolute magic and requires great skill to achieve. Thank you for posting.

a delightful sensual journey...making love to nature, to words to another...regardless of distance....thoughts can make that distance smaller...and there can be peace within...deep contentment.

Elisa,

You have a splendid way of gathering the words close to your heart and rendering them into poetic song. If you like music with your pieces try Lisa Gerrard. If you saw Gladiator she sings when Russell Crowe discovers his family killed. It's called Sorrow.

Baroque - A style using exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to evoke emotion. That's what is going on here. Exaggerated yet clear.....clear as the emotions captured here.

Making love to words...yes, that is what poets do. We caress them and move them into the empty spaces of our lives. We all hope our words will last long after we are gone. We hope others will remember us through our words. Our legacy to those we love and perhaps to those we never had the pleasure to meet. Constant physical pain is so difficult to deal with. We all need a way to cope. If words provide you with a sweet solitude and serenity, I am pleased you have found them, Eli. So much love in this poem...and a poignant air of romance. Yes, he can feel your presence through your words and perhaps he will hear your melody just as beautifully as you hear it in the back of your mind. Such a velvety soft poem. Zoals altijd, je woorden zijn muziek! Knuffels, Lydi**

my pleasure always :)
This started of very dark and then gradually got lighter, bringing hope. I love the imagery you have created for me and the line " I shall not bother you, With my baroque mind" and the second stanza as a whole, that seems to be a turning point from one mood to another. Beautifully done.

As always, you command attention.... it's a performance one would not want to miss!

First off I adore the title, what a sweet concept. You have that knack for taking something intangible and making it come to life before our eyes. Usually I have no words for precisely how your poetry makes me feel, it's like floating in your words, literally being present in your poetic world...and I never want to leave this place...stunningly gorgeous, it's purely magical cara. :) xo

Dancing with raindrops, I'm there....
