Shackles

Shackles

A Poem by Yellow June

Shackles pull
and clang a beat-
a helpless, dreary song.
Skin turns raw
and clangs cry out,
still searching for someone.
But honestly,
as time goes by,
they fall on back asleep.
Song again grows quiet
too far into the deep.
