Father

Father

A Poem by Yellow_Rose

Harsh words spoken

Crying in the midnight light

A smile by day and frown by night

At times he was the foundation

And at times he was the storm that blew it all down

He frightened many and others just annoyed

He was never really there

And when he was darkness would fall

He played as if nothing was wrong

And still does for the most

The words he speak hurt

And if he were to ever lay a hand on me again

I would be sure to fall apart

Scared I was once of him

Now only hate and sadness fills me

He may be ill and he may be tiered

But there is no sympathy for him

In my heart any longer

I have tried to care but have failed every time

And he just goes on hurting and not caring

To remain alone he will

But never truly at peace

To wonder the earth with no purpose

…To him my heart says

Good bye
