On the Day That I Die

On the Day That I Die

A Poem by Vicky Zhuang Yi-Yin
"

A will maybe?

"

On the day that I die

I don’t want you to cry

And just burn me to ashes

Don’t lay me on a bed of roses

On the day that I die

I don’t want you to sigh

About what a person I was

Don’t make me your cause

On the day that I die

I don’t want you to try

To have me return

It’s not your concern

On the day that I die

I don’t want you to die

Let me go in peace

Know that my pains now cease

On the day that I die

Please, do not deny

I will be long gone

When my soul is withdrawn

Hello Vicky Zhuang Yi-Yin,

Sometimes I write things just to get them out, a little something within me tells me that this needs to be released.

On the day that I die, I wonder if it will be in a blaze of glory, or will it be a needle in my arm. Course if it comes to them executing me, which is a legit possiblity, I would hope to have my choice and to be hanged. Why? It's a fetish. Has to do with the eyes, long story.

This was an excellent read, and excellent work.

Always,

Matthew

a classic concept, this is brilliantly done, i really enjoyed the reciprocating
effect of reason, really draws upon its own perspective and makes the reader ponder such notions in understanding the great scope of living and dying and grieving, written as only a poet can capture emotions,
with imagery and time, such poems make time stand still if only for a moment :) excellent job, keep it up
