Chapter 3. The flower of death

Chapter 3. The flower of death

A Chapter by Milena

“Wow...” “What’s the matter, you okay?” “I got butterflies in my tummy.” He chuckle to himself. “So where is this flower that will keep me alive through out child birth? Oh and where can we find a special priest?” “Well the priest should be somewhere in the mountains just north of here. While the flowers on the other hand are right over there.” He covered my eyes and led me to a different room. I could smell flowers they had a intoxicating sent to them ah they were like this honeycomb sent it was a good sent I was in heaven. I felt so good the flowers had a strange affect on me they made me hornie as hell. Then he took his had off my eyes and I saw the flowers they were beautiful. They were this midnight purple with white lines around the edges and through the middle. They were beautiful no wonder I get to have sex on them. “There pretty aren’t they. Perfect wana have a test run.” “Atrayu only after our wedding okay.” “Aw but that spoils the fun of pre wedding sex.” “Ha well no I wana play it safe thank you and get married before I have yeah no sex. So lets go and find that special priest.” He smiled and looked at me as I helped him pick the flowers from the bed. We laughed and talked and had fun with it. Then we started to talk about the task at hand. He explained that the monks they weren’t priest they were monks. That they lived in the high mountains and that they were not very friendly so getting them to wed us is gona be a lot harder than I thought. So we had to figure out a way to pay them with out me getting sacrificed. So we have to find a watch and not just any watch a special watch one that can send you through time. So he has that now and we are gona go on the journey tomorrow morning. “So now that we have the flowers can we go to bed?” Atrayu asked tiered “Not until I arrange them around the edges of the bed. Kay” he snorted and I giggled I’ve been doing that a lot with him. A while ago I would have cried my eyes out. I would have also said that my emotions were dumb and inadequate. I was such a b***h back then only caring about me. It was always me, me, me I hate myself now. Gosh now that I look back I was a monster. “Hey you almost done starring into nothingness while I arrange flowers.” I shook my head and laughed. “Oh I’m sorry. I was just thinking and pondering. I’m sorry if you did so much work.” “It’s okay I was enjoying your facial expressions and your giggles every now and then.” He was so sweet. We had finally finished arranging the flowers we laid down on the bed and kissed and giggled. Atrayu said that the flowers will last a hundred years. “Atrayu if I were to get pregnant how long will it take?” he looked at me with questioning eye’s. “Well as you probably already know we mature faster than humans but have longer lives.” I nodded in indication that I was listening. “So thus your children will mature faster as well. So instead of 9 months it will only take 9 weeks.” I…was…shocked! I hade so many questions buzzing through my skull. Why, how, what did it mean, can I do it, and other stuff that I will keep to my self. As I slept that night I dreamt about Atrayu and our son Peter, We were out in a garden and the sun was beaming down on us the birds were singing and the trees were in bloom. Then Peter started to scream, then the garden went zooming past and I was running in the wood peter by my side. I was crying, and while we ran I kept hearing the father will kill the son. Over and over and over again. I jolted up with fear, eyes puffed up with tears I look to my side and he’s gone. Then I look to the table in front of the bed, he was sitting on a chair. He looked up eyes choked with tears and asked. “Did you see it too?” I nodded and turned to the window. The moon wasn’t quite full but it seemed to have a face on it. It was smiling at me it was kind of creepy so I   turned away. He was still at the table wondering, wanting, waiting for something big. I was shaking I tried to hold still but I couldn’t. I stared towards the table where he was sitting. I walked slowly quietly. He was shaking just as I was but his shake had a larger beat. I didn’t sit I just stood there studding him. I was scared almost to death. My thoughts were far away, they were where I couldn’t get hurt where they were blind to everything around them. Where they were in a nice warm cocoon that was the brilliant color of ignorant. I wanted to scream but I couldn’t find the voice to do so. So as we sat there spell bound by fear and doubt. I wanted to say something, something that would push away the darkness, but could think of nothing. As mornings warm welcome rays of sun hit my face I rose. I looked and found him to be right where I left him sleeping on the table. Today we are going to begin our trek up into the moutons and find the watch that conveniently was at the top of the highest one. I tried to forget about the dream but try as I may I couldn’t. Would he really kill my son, now I want a girl. Bad!!! Something in the back of my head was pulling me to go back home. Like I was gona go home at a time like this. As my thoughts dwindled he awoke. He looked around and noticed I wasn’t where he remembers me to be. So he gets up and shakes his flippy hair as always and sit back down at the table. After a while he started playing with a piece of twin he found on the table just sting there. As I entered the room he didn’t seem to notice. Then again when I was in front of him he didn’t acknowledge my presents either. I waved my hand in front of his face. Nothing. I clapped. Not a twitch. Then I called his name. He seemed to hear but he didn’t look at me he just walked by. “What an a*****e. Hey Atrayu. Hello?!!! Don’t you hear me please answer?”  He was looking. He heard!! “Kishi?..” He called into dead air. “Kishi…” He called again. “Atrayu!!!!” I responded. He could hear me but he couldn’t or didn’t see me. I followed him to the bedroom. Then at the doorway he just stopped. I tried to push him but I passed right through. Him I tried again each time I went straight through him. So I got this idea if I took hold of his body I could control it. I made an executive decision and took a chance. I jumped forward and it felt like a thousand little pieces of ice were cutting my face. Then I opened my eyes I looked around every thing had an orange tint to it. I lifted my hand and saw it wasn’t mine. But I had a feeling like something was pulling me out of the body I had to work quickly. So I found a knife and carved the words I’m here on the wall of my bedroom but as I turned to jump out I saw my body on the bed stiff and cold. When I tried to make him walk forward I fell from the body. Down, down, down I feel past fire and steam. I hit the ground hard I looked around and out of no where this woman came out and slapped me across a tile floor my head hit a point where the molding meet at an angle. I felt the back of my head I was bleeding. She slammed up against me pushing me up the wall. And she spoke. “If you posses another live body I’ll have your sole as a play toy of my very own.” Then she grabbed me and before she threw me I said “No promises.” I went flying up I heard her laugh as I rose to the top of the ceiling and fell but not back into my body I just fell. He got up and looked around. He froze as if time it’s self had frozen with him he didn’t move didn’t budge even for a moment all I noticed was his shallow breathing. The slow rise and fall of his chest. It was the only thing that gave him away from being a statue. Then he dropped to the floor he was changing. You could hear the slow snapping of his ribs. He yelped with every transformation. His back legs became dog shaped, his eyes full of rage and confusion. Then he began tearing his skin off and replacing his skin was dark charcoal fur with a dark red stripe it almost looked like blood was dripping down his fur. I screamed he heard me and looked slowly to my dead cold body. He was scared he poked it and I felt it my very spirit felt it. I yelped, he jumped back he was like a scared puppy. Then I called his name. He howled back at me. I explained what happened but he didn’t change back. I asked him to but he didn’t. Then there was a knock on the door I looked and it was Charlie he had followed our sent here. B*****d. Atrayu knew this and also ran for the door I tried to stop him but he was to full of rage too much anger. He smashed through the door and pinned Charlie to the ground. I would have let him kill him but not now not like this. Poor Charlie wouldn’t have a chance. Why did I care he tried to kill me or even take me in for testing. So why was I gona save his butt? How was I gona save his butt? I didn’t know at the time but something tolled me to save him. Running, painting, trying to get a glimpse of breath. Trying to at least fill my lungs once. A scream it was Charlie. I peered out the window and saw him pinned to the ground. Saliva dripping all over his face and around him Atrayu’s teeth were drawn ready, waiting, wanting to draw blood. My whole body shook with fear and a tingle ran up and down my spine. I screamed and Atrayu jumped back and skidded to a stop. He looked at me maybe he could see me maybe not. I was to focused on the big hairy angry beast on a rampage in front of me. I tried to talk to him but he was to focused on the kill. Then Charlie began to speak. “You see her don’t you?” he said with a snake like hiss to his voice. “To bad those toxins I shot into her where to knock her out then extract her soul. I hope I’m not to late to capture it.” He looked to the general direction that Atrayu was looking. And he pointed a short staff and said some words in Latin and then just as I was gona jump behind him. A big light almost as bright as the sun shown and was pulling me towards the staff. I managed to brake free but I felt week like my whole soul was weaker like I’d been carrying stones up a mountain and back. He noticed I broke free. “You are a strong spirit aren’t you? Where are you? Atrayu find her!” Atrayu looked at me and Charlie followed his gaze it was like a game of cat and mouse very which way I stepped Atrayu followed me with his eyes and so did Charlie. “Atrayu if you keep looking at me I’ll be kept from you and you’ll never see me again!” Atrayu understood and looked at Charlie. “What are you doing find her or her spirit will be lost forever.” Atrayu didn’t waver his glance for even a second. He just kept staring at Charlie. Then his eyes darted for his neck. “You wish to kill me young one but you can’t you don’t have the balls to do it. Your afraid she won’t love you any more if you do. Dough has burrowed deep within you.” Atrayu changed back into a human. “Your wrong dough is in your mind. You’re afraid you’ll lose what has been promised to you. Well if you want it take it.” He waved his hand towards the door. And Charlie followed it he opened the door, and sauntered in. He looked around and saw the kitchen and the living room with our little fireplace, Decorated with a splendor of flowers and carvings. Ignorance followed his every move. He was insignificant but a mouse among a bed of leaves. Scurrying to and fro looking for a piece of cheese then he finally made his nosey little way to my door. He pushed it open and it made a loud noise like someone screaming in terror. Then he poked his nose in lightly scuffled about a bit. He proceeded to exit the room empty handed. “She’s not there Atrayu. Where is she?” his words slivered through his teeth. “Atrayu!! Don’t make me get Artex.” He looked upon his staff said some stuff below his breath and Artex shown right there in front of us. Well at least it looked like Artex. The figure had a ghostly glow to it and was missing its feet. Was it his soul? Or was he playing games with us? “You shouldn’t give an empty threat Charlie.” He was looking to the floor messing with something on the ground. “What do you mean empty? I have every intention in taking your friend’s soul away. Your only friend’s soul I might add.” He knew what he was doing. But little did I know what was gona happen next. Charlie full of rage, seeing as Atrayu had figured out that he couldn’t steal a soul until he had taken the soul from its body.
