My Inner Battle

My Inner Battle

A Poem by Adam Jordan Turner
"

This was not really intended to be poetry, just kind of coming to terms with what I normally like to avoid. However, it came out slightly poetic. In my opinion it's a mess of reserved thoughts.

"

The foundation is cracked, time has claimed it's tole.

I say to myself, "it's a natural part of life, one of those things we 'must do',

It was going to happen sooner or later.

Any other way is unhealthy, be happy for yourself."

No more barriers and shields to protect a wounded soul?

"Ok so you've been hurt, cry me a river!

If the worst thing to ever happen to you was being hurt...you wouldn't be here..

You could be hurt again, you could also not be, but you have to get up."

Why must every lesson acquired come about the hard way?

                   "Great, you've experienced hardship,

                      Sacrafice....what will you sacrafice now?

                         Get up!"

Why does yesterdays strife live on today?

"It's simple, the greatest factor of your future is your past.

Why do none of my efforts protect me from the fall?

"You haven't fallen anywhere yet, you've built too many walls."

Why is my life built on leaving scars?

"Those scars are salvation, fiercely fighting it's way through...

you've been dueling with salvation, instead of letting down your guards."

From here on out I am choosing my battles

"I choose to live free, no longer living baffled."

From this day on I'm baring it all

"I can never rise, if I never fall."

I will do what Is right for my best of interest

"I must abondon reservations, they're no longer my top shelf."

My fears, my struggles, have all become weight on my saddle

"Being smart is not being protected, it's choosing my battles."

If I live my life hiding, my life will hide from me

     "You're ready."

wow so broken and confused and just simply amazing I like how the thoughts were very random to showed your confusion at the beginning and as your started to figure it out and get "Ready" the thoughts became more structured more clearly defined and wether that is what you intended to do I don't know but if not you couldn't have planned it better!

This really reminds me of something I would have written about two and a half years ago, when I was really struggling to learn life lessons and obtain personal growth, but lately I really have learned quite a lot about how to live, and you've got it down in the quotes. That's great positive reinforcement, but the key is application. Really thrive to live and think that way, positively, freely, and learn how to let the past go, or at least the past that causes you pain.

"Why does yesterdays strife live on today?

'It's simple, the greatest factor of your future is your past."

Very, very true, but I'd say the present is as important of a factor, because you can make changes in the present to correct the past.

Great write, and I like the indentions!
