To My Father on His Day�.

...this to my father on Fathers Day. He had been gone from my life since 1983 and though things were not the best between us, he tried to change this before he left for the next world....i do miss him and i sometimes wish things had been different.

To My Father on His Day….

On the day set aside here

To honor our fathers,

All I can do is memorialize him

For he has been gone from my life

To the other side of existence

He left my world when I was young

So many years ago…

He was a good man despite his faults,

His mannerisms, his abuses,

His way of doing things...

I remember the good in him,

What he tried to impart on me,

Wanting more for me and my siblings,

Things that he did not accomplish

His hopes and dreams for us

What he wanted for us to learn...

The places he took us

To broaden our horizons

And get a taste of the wide open world

Outside our door and beyond

For that I will always be grateful

Now that I am grown,

With children of my own

I now have tried to do the same,

To show my children and grandchildren

The same wonder of the world...

To seek the knowledge,

To achieve all the best that is attainable

For that, I will always be thankful

Oh! I can see a tear rolling down from my eyes after when I finished reading this poem...This is not just a poem, this is a part of you and your soul which depicts how much you miss your father.
This is really such a great tribute Amanda...

Now that I am grown,
With children of my own
I now have tried to do the same,
To show my children and grandchildren
The same wonder of the world...
I love these lines the most, and the way with which you are still continuing the legacy by showing your children and grandchildren the same path which he showed to you.

Beautiful...simply beautiful....It is only you here who can write so beautiful and effortlessly...I really admire you for that!

Amanda, Heart wrenching words! Your heart and mine! I am a Dad and have two girls now grown up. I hope my girls forgive me when I was stupid. I hope they see too that my ambitions for them were to push them upwards to some sort of safety in life. Your Dad did a good job in a short time. Smashing work!

Well it is nice to know you look past his faults as a human and focus of his good despite being human... that is what a good heart does and that is something I am sure your father past onto you... a very strong and sentimental tribute to him.
