When I Ruled The World

I wrote this do to my love for Sleeping at Last song East and Coldplay's song Viva la Vida. I love the Idea of being a King and I have more stories and writings about the King That ruled Mankind.

Long ago I ruled the world

Keeping my people out of harm's way

Loved all just the same

It was a paradise of beautiful wonders

As I ruled the world

I was crumbling at my feet

While power filled within me

I thought there was no stopping me

I was evil but as good as could be

I ruled nations no one could defeat

Until my enemies saw I was crumbling under my feet

As I ruled  the world

My kingdom was attacked 

I lost the woman I loved 

Now I'm falling down in defeat

I fight hard

I fight to be free

But that did not matter

For I had already crumbled at my feet

While I still ruled the world

I had to keep my kingdom up

But my enemies came all around me 

They turned my kingdom into dust

They took everything away from me

I lost so much I could not even weep 

That was when I ruled the world

Now I lay awake at night

Wishing I was a better king

I let the power get to my head

Not knowing I was already dead

I lived in peace and unity 

everyone scared of me 

I was as powerful as could be 

But I didn't know I was letting my nation slip right beneath my feet

That was when all was mine

That was when I ruled mankind

It's one of my weaker pieces of writing but I enjoyed writing it. It just gives a little idea of what my king was like.
