virtue

virtue

A Chapter by alan peter kelly

to understand

virtue

ones life must

first be crushed

inside a vice.

experience

wont arrive

no head

behind a text

can comprehend

the paycheck

earned on blood

cut blistered hand

to hand.

as dogs chase

every ambulance

mice run

for the cheese

virtue

comes when least

expect

upon a jagged edge

as one walks

out

from ember ed lies

and pressure lifts

inside the vice.

Love this piece- reminds me of the concept that you can't understand something unless you have been on every side of it. Like, you can't fully understand murder until you have been the murderer, the victim, and people related to both roles. Deals with reincarnation and whatnot- I find it extremely interesting.
You need to be on every side to appreciate the other..

Very nice write- love the concept.

oh - how profound this poem is - in your voice - its a life lesson - your words are so simple and so wise - "experience won't arrive" - as it won't - its hard earned - all virtue - all experience - all discerning - all wisdom - all sense - all sensibility - and how well you say - sheer brilliance - life lessons in poetry!!

"The pressure lifts off inside the vice as one walks out the ember lies.. " Thankyou for your wise words and how well you formed them here on this small greatly created poem. Vice and virtue learn from each other and we must choose which to follow throughout our life.. you left me wondering that it's possible for change but with a high cost and sacrafice

A sharp aphoristic edge as if hand-sanded.

Blake's "If a fool would persist in his folly, he'd become wise" comes to mind as analogous.

Well-honed, lived wisdom.

This is insightful love :) Philosophical too:)
To see the world as it is, is to let the scales fall from the eyes, the tower must crumble for the new visions to arise!
When the lowest ebb has been dwelt in, there can only be an uprising!
Wonderful poem love!
