Nine minutes past forever

Nine minutes past forever

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

sometimes it is just too late to get it back

"
Nine minutes past forever,
your message came too late --

my heart,
deprived of exercise
atrophied --
ceasing to recognize
your beat.

my lips,
parched and thirsty,
bloomed --
at his passing
brush.

my soul,
alone and wandering,
stumbled --
upon his tender
embrace.

Nine minutes past forever,
your message came too late.

You never liked to wear a watch,
and now you lost the race.

Thank you for stopping in. And yes, too little, too late.
Nice, KL! Too little, too late! I feel a lot of people can relate to this one, including myself.

You have a wonderful way of penning your thoughts together. I could feel your words flow through my veins, especially where you talk about "his passing brush" and "his tender embrace". Beautifully penned! xo :)

Thanks so much. It shows when it comes from where we are at emotionally, I think.

too little too late...

i experienced this from his point of view...i was too late...almost got her back after a year of trying, but it wasn't to be...no regrets really...life works out the way it is supposed to...
and i will always treasure that closeness we had...and we are still friends which is good.

there are the what ifs.

i really like this race/poem you presented here...
